Next on the BASHING BLOCK... AmEx.
There are many websites "expressing" dissatisfaction with "American" corporations. American Express would probably LOVE for you to "express" your dissatisfaction with the Better Business Bureau as well as posting your opinions all of the Internet. Believe it or not, there is very little that American Express can do. One website, the "UNofficial" American Express website was started in 2000 when the company pissed off one of their customers. The "UNofficial" site has been featured TWICE on forbes.com for being one of the TOP 10 corporate bashing sites. The website amexsux.com has made many national headlines. In America, there is no greater right, than the right to speak your mind freely. Freedom of speech is one of the most important rights granted to us by the Constitution. What American Express and other corporations fail to realize is that these sites are actually harming their business. Instead of satisfying these people by resolving very minor issues, they cannot prevent people from speaking their mind about how much their companies SUCK. American Express could have prevented the amexsux.com site from reaching the TOP of Google by meerly resolving the problem. But if executives were intelligent, our country wouldn't be in the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, right? It is rumored that Ken Chenault, may soon be featured on the newest controversial and opinionated website, Crappy People. American Express' CEO has made many headlines since being featured on Forbes.com (on both sides of the coin) and AmExSux.com.
American Express announced that it would layoff 10% of the company's workforce, which is equivalent to about 7,000 jobs, on October 30, 2008. Then laid off 4,000 more in May 2009, right after Ken Chenault is named #5 of highest paid CEO's by AP. Russell Simmons and Richard Branson are also featured on this captivating website.
